Korean lash lift vs eyelash extensions

A Korean lash lift and eyelash extensions can both make the eye area look more defined, but they work with different starting materials. A lift reshapes your natural lashes; extensions add fibres to individual natural lashes or in temporary clusters.

At a glance

What matters most

  • A lift changes the curl and direction of the natural lashes without adding extension fibres.
  • Extensions add visible length, texture or fullness and require ongoing maintenance.
  • Eye health, natural-lash condition and patch-test requirements must be considered before treatment.

The difference in the finished result

A Korean lash lift is suited to someone who wants their own lashes to appear more lifted and open. Adding a tint can deepen the visible colour. The result is limited by the natural lashes already present, which is part of its more natural appearance.

Extensions can create extra length and fullness beyond the natural lash alone. Classic, hybrid and Russian sets describe different approaches to the finished texture and density, while clusters are a separate temporary option.

Maintenance and daily routine

A lift grows out with the natural lash cycle and is not maintained with infills. Extensions shed with natural lashes and need suitable infills if you want to maintain an even set. The timing varies by client, care and starting lashes.

  • Choose a lift for lower-maintenance enhancement of natural lashes.
  • Choose extensions when added length or fullness is the priority.
  • Plan removal rather than pulling extensions when you no longer want them.

Suitability comes before the style

Tell us about eye irritation, recent eye treatment, allergies and previous reactions. Arrive without eye makeup where requested. A patch test may be needed depending on the service and products, and completing one does not guarantee that a reaction can never occur.

If the eye area is sore, swollen, infected-looking or unusually watery, postpone cosmetic treatment and seek appropriate advice.

Common questions

Before you book

Does a lash lift add extra lashes?

No. It reshapes your natural lashes. A tint may make them look darker, but no extension fibres are added.

Can extensions look natural?

Yes, depending on the chosen set, length and fullness. A classic set is commonly selected for a more individual, defined result.

Can I have a lift and extensions together?

Do not assume the treatments can be combined. The natural lashes and timing of any previous service must be assessed first.
