Why gaps appear
Natural lashes are at different growth stages, so they do not all shed together. Extension retention can also be affected by aftercare, rubbing, unsuitable products, heat, sleep habits and the starting condition of the lashes.
A sudden one-sided gap may reflect rubbing or sleeping patterns, while widespread early loss needs a fuller conversation about aftercare and the original set. A photograph before booking can help reserve the right service length.
When an infill is suitable
An infill is intended for a reasonably maintained set with enough suitable extensions remaining. The practitioner needs time to clean the lashes, assess outgrowth, safely remove unsuitable extensions and restore balance.
- Book before the set becomes very sparse or heavily outgrown.
- Arrive with clean lashes and without mascara unless advised otherwise.
- Tell us if the original work came from another salon.
When removal or a full set is clearer
A new set may be needed when too little suitable work remains, the mapping is changing significantly, the existing application cannot be safely integrated, or maintenance has been delayed. Removal may also be the correct choice if you want a break or there is uncomfortable twisting or pulling.
Pain, persistent redness, swelling or discharge is not a retention problem to cover with an infill. Stop cosmetic treatment and seek appropriate healthcare advice.

Why did several extensions shed with natural lashes attached?
Extensions are applied to natural lashes, which complete their own growth cycle. Some attached natural-lash shedding is expected; sudden or concerning changes should be discussed.
Can I pull off the remaining lashes before a fresh set?
No. Pulling can remove or damage natural lashes. Book professional assessment and removal.
